July 28 - Friday
I spent the whole day rushing back and forth fixing the HS bulletin board and I couldn’t have done it without Marina’s help. She was so amiable today. Oh well, I guess everyone is entitled to a change in moods. This afternoon after school I went home and dressed and went back to school. Some class mates of mine made comments about my tight skirt. The auditorium was jam packed. Tita Trining and Tito Ben were there. Tita Titic, Mari Legarda, Annabelle Morelos, Loretta Lichauco and her mother, Sister Marie Lorraine of Maryknoll etc. were all there. The Harvard Glee Club was magnificent. My hands hurt from clapping so much. They were handsome young men and so simpaticos. They sang the Paulinian hymn and some Tagalog songs which were beautiful. The audience was entranced. The SPCM Glee Club was beautiful too. Mercy called tonight and asked me if I was going to Ike Borja’s party. I told her yes but 99% out of 100 I won’t go. It’ll take a miracle to convince my Pop without him getting mad. She, Mercy, also told me that Cos definitely admitted he liked me way back when but he’ll say anything now since he knows Mercy and I are friends so I am still doubtful.
July 29 - Saturday
I went to the ANC this am with Mercy. Cos, Arno, Marina etc. were there. Conchita and Lita just said hello and goodby and that was that. Anyway, Cos, Arno, Mercy and I played doubles in ping-pong and then ate lunch together. This afternoon, we went to Kayumanggi to have Mercy’s hair cut then Tita Lol brought us home. Mercy stayed here for a while. I went to the Charters’ anniversary party this evening. Karen and Linda were there. Later at 9:30, Dad brought me to Ike Borja’s house. (I didn’t appreciate then how cool my dad was and how smart and wise my mother.) The party was nice and I danced with Mari Franco once, Mari Valles twice and some other people whose names I don’t know. When I told Mercy Mari danced with me she told me he was a little high but he didn’t act like it and I didn’t smell anything on his breath. He is a very good dancer and a darned nice person. Victor Franco is very nice too. We got home at 12:30 AM. PS. Also danced with Arno.
July 30 - Sunday
I went to the ANC this am after Mass. Conchita, Arno, Lita, Luli and Cos were there. Later the girls left and Cosme and Arno remained. We ate lunch together and did we have a discussion! As usual, Mercy brought up the subject of that incident last year and Cos got embarrassed. I became well sort of like Cosme says “rajada” Mercy just giggled and Cos couldn’t even begin to say what he had to say only that he suddenly had to a change of heart which wasn’t exactly funny because I took everything too personally and really fell hard for him and I came out most hurt of all and losing. Carlos and Gonzalo Rodriguez joined us for a while. They asked why I was so down in the dumps. I went home to refresh myself then to Mercy’s house. Mercy, Honey, Chiqui, Albert and I went to see Pat Boone at the Araneta Colosseum. We saw Cos, Freddy F. and Butch Catala’s sister. (Nacho is very cosy with Marina).

- I was born in a Japanese concentration camp in Los Baños, Laguna in 1944 and raised in Manila. I spent my grade school years in Maryknoll College and high school years at St. Paul's College of Manila. I spent most of my summer leisure time at the Army Navy Club of Manila. I married a nice American man in 1965 and moved to New York. In 1969, I left New York for Barcelona and lived there 8 years. I returned to the States in 1977 and lived there until 2011. I visit Manila and Barcelona as often as I can. I have a lovely daughter and granddaughter.My father, Hal Bowie, died in Manila in 1974, and my mother, who moved back to Barcelona after his death, died in 1995. I retired from Polytechnic University (now NYU-Poly)in 2011 after 27 years! After moving to Florida I returned to NY after 8 years and now am living again in my first home in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.
