May 9 - 13, 1961

May 9 - Tuesday


Mass and novena again then after to Metro Drug with Tita Lol. I went to the Yacht Club. I went sailing with Nena and Ana Marie Perez. I ate lunch at Nena’s house and Nacho and Ramon Faustman were there. We listened to the radio and danced and Nacho kissed me on the forehead twice. Something went tingling up and down my spine but Nacho will never know. Went back to the ANC. The usual people were there. Bill was there of course with Marina around him as usual. He really knocks me out and maybe he likes me a little bit as a friend. Maybe he doesn’t like me at all but he’s just awfully nice. Neil Sedaka came and we sat with him. All the kids were asking for his autograph. Guy leaves today for another far port. We said goodby and when we shook hands he squeezed real tight. I like him and he’s a nice guy. Stayed for Bingo with D’Marks kids, Ramon Faustman, Margie, etc. Guy, Cindy, Pete and Angela were there. Guy (This is the second time I mention this guy, Guy.. Guy who?) said goodby again and told me I was “his favorite girl.” He came to watch me play Bingo for a few minutes. Mommy and I had another argument. Nacho was a little mad at me because he says when he was with those 2 American girl friends of his I looked at him badly. I didn’t mean to but when you see the one boy who’s really a part of your heart flirting with other girls, who can smile???!!





May 10 - Wednesday

A dreary day. I went to Mass and then Mom, Tita Lol and I went to buy jeans. Later Tita Lol went to the dentist. I met Cosme’s mother. We went to BPI and there I saw the great big huge safes where they keep money, jewels, important documents etc. Went to the ANC for lunch and saw Cosme. Went to see movie at Gaiety - “Sunrise at Campobello” then went to the ANC. Nena told me Bill had just left. I was so disappointed. Then Marina, Nena and I went swimming. While we were in the pool, Bill, Neil Sedaka, Tom and Pete arrived. Marina instantly made excuses to get dressed. Nena and I stayed in the pool a little longer. Once I looked at the table where the boys were sitting and Bill was looking in our direction. (Whether at me or Nena I don’t know). (A truly stupid remark of mine -- I can’t believe I actually question whether the guys were looking at me or Nena. ) Nena and I got dressed after a lot of laughing and giggles. Said hello to Bill but he just said hello back and left and left a few minutes later. Neil might be able to go to the party on Friday. I do hope it’s a success. What a world. There are times when I think Bill or Nacho like me at least a little but then sometimes I think I bug them or something. Talked to Mercy over the phone. Says that Cosme is mad at her, or so Margie says.



May 11 - Thursday

I went to Mass this morning then Mercy, Margie and I went to the ANC. The Gang was there including some people who are not around often like Cosme, etc. Went swimming with Margie and Nacho. Then I got dressed. Bill came and started teasing again. I ate lunch with Mom and Dad in the Dining Room. Paul Tenny (against my objections) got an autograph from Neil Sedaka for me though I wanted one from Anita Bryant who was also there. Neil is going to the party. Then I went to the Sunset Lounge and said with Neil, Nena and Angela. After we played tennis and Bill played too. As usual teasing about my awful tennis. After tennis we sat at one of the tables at the swimming pool. Nena, Bill, Marina, Jose Luis, Candy, Cindy, Nacho etc. Bill told jokes and we were laughing so hard the tears ran down our faces. I saw Tita Marianne and Tito Werner at the ANC. Nacho says this girl Leslie asked him to take her to the party so for me sorry na lang. He was so affectionate this pm. I will play tennis with him tomorrow if God willing it doesn’t rain. I like him an awful lot, also Bill. I hope with all my heart the party’s a success tomorrow. Ate dinner at D’Marks, saw Maribel’s sister and her boyfriend.



May 12 - Friday

After Mass I went to the ANC and played tennis with Nacho. I went swimming later with Margie and Nacho. I ate lunch at the ANC when Bill came and sat beside me and we just talked. Nena is the nicest girl and friend I have ever known and I’ll miss her terribly when she leaves for Spain. Jose Luis picked me up for the party this evening. It was very nice. The Whirlpools are terrific. JayJay Herrero etc. This one player, Freddy Infante is cute and boy so is his brother. I danced with Nacho, Bill, Jack Aguirre, Agustin B primo de Lita, Tom, Chiqui S and Linggoy. Bill looked simply out of this world in a coat and tie. He danced a divine slow drag with Cindy. Lucky her. Then he left and shook my hand , looked straight at me and squeezed my hand real tight. Nacho was getting affectionate and kissed me on the cheek twice but he has his blue eyes on Leslie O. Cosme was joking around with us. Got home at 1:10 am.



May 13 - Saturday

I got myself a terrific new blouse this morning. Went to the ANC this pm only the pesky creeps were there like those irritating Aboitiz brothers, Chiqui S. Lita’s cousin. Neither Tom nor Bill nor Nacho were there and only Angela and Cindy were there. Nena’s off at Nasucbu. I don’t like to dislike Cosme and Agustin but I think they make it a point to bug me. If they are, believe me they succeeded. Cosme was mentioning all over the place about Nacho giving me an innocent little buzz on the cheek. Maybe he minds or something but he can go fry. Nacho called me up at the ANC first to find out who was there and then he starts talking about Leslie etc. He’ll never know...I haven’t seen Bill or Nacho today and its like something incomplete or missing in my day. Lita lent me her records. I played “Fever” by Elvis and its terrific. I keep seeing Bill singing and its even more terrific sung by him! Luli Lopez arrives tomorrow. We intend to go greet her at the airport.
