May 24 - Wednesday


Mercy and Margie picked me up this morning to the ANC. We just sat around and chatted with some of the gang and I sat in the swimming pool with Cindy for a while. We went home for lunch and then back to the ANC in the afternoon. Nacho, Leslie, Bill were there but I just said hello and sat with Cosme, Mercy and Margie. We played cards and Cosme was very nice to me..?????? Later I joined Angela, Tom and Bill came and joined us. Nena cut her hair and she looks even prettier than she did before. I’m more convinced than ever that Bill likes her more than any of us so there goes another dream. To him I’m just a kid. Mercy and Margie came home with me and Mercy sleeps over with me tonight. I have also found out that dear Nacho told Agustin that I told him Cosme likes Mercy. I’ll never trust anyone again. He also said I liked him for three years and all that jazz. Wait till I get my hands on his little neck. I wonder what else he’s been saying?! Oh Nacho, you have just ended what I thought was a beautiful friendship.



May 25 - Thursday

I didn’t sleep very well last night and I woke up dizzy and with cramps. I also couldn’t get Nacho out of my mind. That little hypocrite. Oh boy! Mercy and I went to the ANC this afternoon. At first nobody was there, then people began to arrive. When Nacho came I didn’t look at him once! I wouldn’t give him the time of day. I know he looked at me but - che! Bill was also in the Teen Room but I don’t know why I didn’t even say hello to him. I have a strange feeling...of well, skip it. It was the first time in three months I didn’t say hello to him. Its pretty heartbreaking. Oh gosh, what’s wrong with me?! I sat with Nena in the Sunset Lounge then with Mercy, Conchita and Cosme. We had a fine time playing cards and when Mercy asked me “truth” who I liked better Bill or Cosme I said the same. In reality I think I’d take Bill.



May 26 - Friday

I went to the ANC with Margie and Mercy this morning. The same people were there. Nacho came up and asked me why I was mad at him. What a little hypocrite. Come to think of it, it does seem a bit silly just to get so worked up about him......Ate lunch at home and then I went back to the ANC. Everybody was there. Nena and I sat in the Sunset Lounge and Bill joined us later. Then Lita, Conchita, Nacho etc. went to the party room and Nacho asked me to join them. He’s not going to sweet talk me into anything any more. Marina was a little off hand with her mother this afternoon. Bill was his old jolly self and Nena brought him, Lita and I home. Bill sat next to me in the car. Went to Tita Marian’s house this evening.



May 27 - Saturday

Nena came in second in the races today and she was happy about it despite the fact that she was leading half the time. I ate lunch over at the ANC. The gang was there. Mercy and Margie were a little wild this afternoon. But of course, they’re always up to something. Bill was there and I watched him play tennis for a while. Then I joined him at the swimming pool. We sat and chatted. Cindy was sitting at another table with some guys with Marina and she asked me to join her but well, I’d rather sit with Bill. I hope she wasn’t offended. Nacho and I are on edge these days but he started it and I don’t aim to fall for him and those sweet words and big blue eyes again. Carlos Garcia’s uncle died yesterday and I really pity him. First his whole family gets killed in the war and now, his uncle. Mommy left this evening for Bacolod. Daddy and I went to D’Marks for a while. I can’t believe school begins in a week. Bill is so nice at times. I dig him the most even if Nena doesn’t (she says).



May 28 - Sunday

I went to Mass at 9 am and then to the ANC. Nobody was there except Lita’s icky cousin and Carlos and Gonzalo. Nena came at noon after Lita and Conchita left. We went to the Yacht Club and sat and chatted with Luis Pertierra (man those eyes of his!!). Then everybody started arriving from the races. Peter Maguream invited Nena to go to a barbecue party so Jose Luis drove me back to the ANC. Nacho has changed since he met Leslie. That girl is not nice at all. Bill was there and he looked so handsome today. But gosh, doesn’t he always?! Conchita, Maricar and I went to the Tasa De Oro to eat. We had a hilarious time for we didn’t stop laughing and giggling. Cindy had to say goodby to some Marines she met and was a little sad. Her mother liked my dress. The one I modeled for the fashion show. Bill might make it to the races at the Yacht Club tomorrow. I hope he can. Maricar got mad at Cosme and Cosme wouldn’t apologize. Nacho and Jose Luis are becoming regular taos because of Leslie. That little .....



May 29 - Monday

Had a busy day. First I went to the Yacht Club at 9 to watch the races. Marina and I were the only teenagers there today but it was wonderful to lie on the top deck listening to the radio. My only wish was that someone special was too. He wasn’t. Then after the race we sat and chatted with Vicky Pertierra. Nacho was there but I didn’t look at him but I caught him looking at me. Marina and I ate at Nena’s house and Nacho was all excited because he got a letter and a picture of Margie Lluller. We went to the Gaiety to see “A Breath of Scandal” with that dreamboat John Gavin and Sofia Loren. Nena drove the car all day today and it was a lot of fun. We went to the ANC. Nena had judo lessons and Bill etc. and I watched her. Bill says he might go to the races tomorrow. I hope so but I don’t think he’ll make it. Conchita is having a gathering tomorrow but Nena, Marina, Bill etc are not invited. My divided loyalties again. Mitch Schlachterman might go so...hmmm....Bill showed me a real kooky picture of himself and I wanted it but he said it was his mother’s. I told him that Arno told me that Jun Suares is looking for him. He was very grateful. God help those hoods if they harm a hair of his head?!! (Yeah, sure, what would I have done if they had. I’m actually surprised that we had “hoods” then, or maybe I just had a vivid imagination.)
