May 18 - 23, 1961

May 18 - Thursday


I cooked a little this morning and then this afternoon Marina and I went to sell some of our school books. We went to the ANC later and Bill was there with Cindy and Nena. We joined them and later Jose Luis, Tom and Walter came too. The other kids were at the ANC too. Marina took Bill home. Then we joined Nacho, Ramon etc in playing a card game where there was Truth or Consequence. That Cosme. Oh honestly! He makes me so mad. Walter and Gonzalo had to kiss me and I had to kiss Honey which I didn’t do. Nacho’s consequence was also to kiss me and that tingle went down my spine. Later Dad and I went to Mercy’s house to dinner there. I think Mercy likes Cosme and I give up. They also got Nacho’s picture from my wallet. I kissed Tita Maitos goodby for she’s going on a trip. I like her and Tita Totoy very much. (A lot of kissing went on this day.)



May 19 - Friday

Chiqui Sarthou picked me up this am at 9:30 to go to the ANC. I played tennis for an hour. Then all of the gang went to the Teen Den to play “1-2-3 Pass” In truth, I had to admit I like Nacho more than Bill and in consequence I had to kiss Nacho. He also had to kiss me. I know now he doesn’t like me. He flirts with Conchita and has a date with Lita for the movies Sunday. Arno maybe likes me even more than Nacho does. When Nacho is with all the other girls I don’t even exist. It’s only when he’s alone with me that he knows I’m alive. Tony Legarza joined in the game. This afternoon Bill, Nena, Marina, Lita and I went to see “Diabolique.” Marina tried 2 times to sit beside Bill but then he moved over and sat next to me. It was all pretty exciting - the movie and him but I couldn’t help wishing it was Nacho instead of him. Marina was furious because he changed places. We went back to the ANC and sat at the swimming pool and talked. Then Nena brought Bill, Leslie and me home. Nacho was in one of his moods. I saw Ginny Brooks at the ANC today.



May 20 - Saturday

Marina picked me up to go to the ANC this morning. Some of the gang was there and we spent the morning with Arno, Jack Aquirre, Nacho, Leslie, Marina, Lita, Gonzalo, Carlos, etc. in the Teen Den. Ate lunch at the ANC and then Lita picked me up to go to the movies. Later we went back to the ANC. I sat with Nena, Leslie, Marina etc in the Sunset Lounge. Then Cindy, Nena and I were joined by 2 guys from the Air Force and I left them and went to the swimming pool. Bill, Nacho, Gonzalo, Leslie were there. I simply can’t figure Nacho out. There are moments when I get to thinking maybe he likes me just a teensy bit and sometimes I think he can’t stand me. He takes Leslie sailing these days and Lita to the movies. And gee, he knows how much I like to go sailing. Nena brought me home and were we ever packed in the car. Nacho, Bill, Tom, Walter, Jose Luis Nena, Leslie and I plus the driver. Nena had the luck to sit on Bill’s lap (I think Bill thought himself pretty lucky too!) and I sat on Leslie. Nacho had his arm around her so you can figure it out. Nacho with his arm around Leslie and Nena sitting on Bill’s lap and me seeing two people I like very much like this. Its murder!!



May 21 - Sunday

I woke up late this morning and we went to Mass at 11. After Mass I went to the ANC. All the gang was there. Nena and I later went to the swimming pool and we sat there for a while. Nacho was horsing around with Leslie in the pool but I ignored them. Nena left and Mommy came. Bill also joined us and from 1 to 3 pm he sat with my parents and me. We had a great time just talking. My parents like him and I’m glad. Then we left to get ready to go to see the Royal Ballet at the Rizal. I went with Mom and the Martis. Nacho sat beside me and it was so nice. We laughed a great deal and I saw many people I know. The ballet was beautiful. Then while we were leaving the theater I see someone wave and I had to look twice to see it was the one and only CARLOS GARCIA! I nearly flipped. He came out to say hello and talk to Nacho. This is the first time he’s ever done this so I’m just dazed. He is a real doll. What a day, first there was Bill this noon (what green eyes) then Nacho (yummy those blue eyes) then Carlos (boy dig those brown eyes). Later we went to the ANC for a while. Arno and Ramon were also there today.



May 22 - Monday

I watched the Women’s Championship Races on the committee boat this morning with Nacho and Leslie. Tita Carmen Marti came in first and Nena second. We ate lunch in Nena’s house and Nacho spent half the time holding hands with Leslie. We went back to the ANC this afternoon. The Gang was there. At first I didn’t know Bill was there but then I saw him in the swimming pool with Cindy. Then he played tennis and he kept making faces and playing with his racket at me from the tennis court. Nacho, Nena, Leslie, Carlos, Gonzalo and I played cards together. It was a lot of fun. Then we joined Bill and Tom and this other fellow in the Sunset Lounge. A quite attractive guy and Bill introduced us. I was sorry to go home but had to obey Daddy. Bill is so much fun and I think I am going to miss him more than I think I am when he laves. News Flash!! Cosme likes Mercy and Mercy likes him!!



May 23 - Tuesday

I’m not sure whether its been a nice day or not but here’s some of it. I cut my hair this morning and washed it and for a while it looked fine but when it got dry, eeeek! I sat with Mercy, Margie, Cosme and Chiqui in the Sunset Lounge. Cosme was nice today but I guess maybe he’s too occupied with Mercy to be mean to me. I ate lunch at home and then went back to the ANC after leaving some school books with Elisa Llamoglia. Bill was in the swimming pool when I got there. I joined the people in the Teen Room. Carlos Garcia was there this afternoon. Holy smokes!! I smiled hello and then said goodby when he left. He is the cutest thing on earth. I’m getting pretty fed up with Bill and Nacho (Man, I sure was fickle.) Played Bingo with Lita and Luli this evening. Mitch Schlachterman is cute!
