Mar 9 - Thursday
What a frustrating day. I blew up at the slightest teasing by Margotin and Marina and I felt awful. I made la cuacha in a sort of half sense because I could’ve gone to school if I wanted to but I just wasn’t in the mood. I also had splitting headache. I’ve been trying to call Nena ever since yesterday and I simply can’t get in touch with her. Either she’s sleeping or busy or the telephone’s busy. I feel so ikky today. Not all like my old jolly self. I like school during the morning but during the afternoons, ugh. Never mind, tomorrow is the last day of regular classes - yay!
Mar 10 - Friday
I feel guilty about it but I skipped classes today. I wasn’t in the mood to hear Miss Zacarias’ sarcastic remarks. I went to the Chat Peypoch studio with Mom and Pop to get tickets for “Sortiledge” Tita Lol was there with Chicky. Also, Mrs. Peypoch, Mrs. ???? and the mother of Maricar Gonazalez. They said I danced very well. I’m not too sure. I went to the movies with Mom - “The Wackiest Ship In the Army” starring Ricky Nelson and Jack Lemon. Honey really looks like him (Ricky Nelson). I also saw Ricky Nelson on TV. He sang “Be Bop Baby” and “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You.” Mercy and I chatted on the phone for hours. We talked about everything including my favorite subjects - Nacho, Cosme and Honey. Saw Daddy in the movie “Operation Gang Pass.” Ate lunch at the ANC.
Mar 11 - Saturday
This morning I went to the ANC. Marina, Maribel, Lita, Conchita, Nacho were there. Nacho and I practically spent the whole morning laughing. He was his old jolly self this am. When the radio played “Teen Angel” everybody sort of went to the summer past...Nacho and I laughed at each other with a sort of a quiet understanding between us as if we were both remembering some past moment. I’m getting corny again! Charlie Armstrong was there. He sure is handsome. Lita and I went to the movie at the Gaiety “Surprise Package” with Mitzi Gaynor and Yul Bryner. Received a letter from Arlette and Monica today. I wrote to them and Inger. Mercy and I talked over the phone. Nacho is soooo nice!
Mar 12 - Sunday (Butch Catala’s birthday)
It has been a little boring today. This am Mercy, Margie, Chicky, Albert and I went to the meeting with Father Gomez. We will have some sort of a social on April 8th with boys. Big deal. Then we went to the ANC. Conchita, Arno, Maribel were there. We played “Truth or Consequence.” Pretty corny. I ate lunch at Marcos’. Nena’s picture is on the front page this morning of the Sunday Times magazine. She is with Lita Abraham, Chiriqui Garcia. Got invited to Walter Abraham’s birthday yesterday. Nacho called Marina and asked her to go to the movie this pm. Ay Nacho, que palikero eres! Today is Butch Catala’s birthday, he’s 19! I also have a terrific cold!

- I was born in a Japanese concentration camp in Los Baños, Laguna in 1944 and raised in Manila. I spent my grade school years in Maryknoll College and high school years at St. Paul's College of Manila. I spent most of my summer leisure time at the Army Navy Club of Manila. I married a nice American man in 1965 and moved to New York. In 1969, I left New York for Barcelona and lived there 8 years. I returned to the States in 1977 and lived there until 2011. I visit Manila and Barcelona as often as I can. I have a lovely daughter and granddaughter.My father, Hal Bowie, died in Manila in 1974, and my mother, who moved back to Barcelona after his death, died in 1995. I retired from Polytechnic University (now NYU-Poly)in 2011 after 27 years! After moving to Florida I returned to NY after 8 years and now am living again in my first home in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.
