April 19 - 23, 1961

April 19 - Wednesday

I went to the ANC this pm. We all went swimming the whole afternoon. The usual people were there including Bill, Pat, Tom, Cindy, etc. Arabella. Bill was horsing around with us in the swimming pool and once I bumped into him while I was swimming. After swimming we watched Arno at judo for a while. Conchita took a picture of Bill with my camera though I told her not to. We sat in the Sunset Lounge after swimming Nacho insulted Cindy when she passed by and Conchita insulted Bill. After they left, Tom came and sat with us and he told me had heard Nacho and Conchita. I’m sure that by now Bill and Cindy must hate us. Gee whiz. If only once or twice wished Cindy weren’t here only because she had the luck of having Bill talk to her and I said Bill was conceited but that’s all. I think they’re both very nice. Jose Luis brought me home.

April 20 - Thursday

I played tennis this morning with Angela. Bill was there!! My tennis is improving a little. Cosme was there too and its been ages since I’ve talked to him. Today a year ago was when he told Margie “it” couldn’t work and I thought my world had ended. Well, like it never happened. All I ever felt for Cosme is completely gone, thank goodness. Nacho and I ate lunch at Marina’s house. Nacho told me that I’m the nicest girl he’s ever known and I could’ve hugged him for that. I also told him I once liked him and he says he wishes he had known. Nacho is a brother to me and a great comfort. Bill is just well you’ve heard it before, the most. My heart beats very fast when he’s anywhere near. There were hundreds of Marines and Navy guys at the ANC this pm. Tom sat with us for a while and Mercy and Margie were there. This evening, I went to the movies with Nena, Marina and Nacho. “Embezzled Heaven” at the Gaiety. Just as we left, Vita walked in and Nacho was mad.

April 21 - Friday

I stayed home this whole day but not because I really wanted to. I didn’t want to make Mommy mad. I talked with Mercy over the phone and listened to the radio. This evening I called Marina up and she was all excited because Bill and Charlie Armstrong sat at their table with Nena. Marina says we’ll see them tomorrow but Nena is going to Nasucbu and well she is the main attraction at our table at the ANC. Ricky Nelson sang on TV again tonight and I went with Mom to the Ever to see “All Hands On Deck” with Pat Boone.

April 22 - Saturday

Dad brought me to the ANC this am. Nena and Marina came and we sat with Cris Carreon for a while. Marina and I ate lunch at the ANC. Bill was there for a few minutes and two times he looked at us . Then we went to the Gaiety to see “Wackiest Ship In the Army” with Rich Nelson and Jack Lemon. After, we went back to the ANC and Marina went home. Lita and Conchita were there and they went swimming. I played tennis. Tom came and talked with me and later he came and sat at our table. (This am Cosme’s sister and her two daughters, Asumpta and Patricia came and I had a nice time talking with them. What little darlings they are). Chiqui Sarthou is the creepiest creep - ugh! When I finished playing tennis Bill was just leaving and I smiled at him and he grinned back up at me and that smile of his is simply out of this world. I nearly melted! He’s just the living breathing end. Dad got my report card today. Pretty good.

April 23 - Sunday

Mass at the Ermita Church at 10 AM and then to the ANC. Juaco Campbell was there with Arno. He’s very, very nice. We ate lunch at the Swiss Inn and Marina ate lunch with us. Back to the ANC and we sat at the swimming pool. At about 4:40 Bill came and he stopped by our table to say hello. My heart nearly fell out of my mouth. He asked for Tom who was playing tennis. Every time Bill smiles or laughs I simply melt. He has one of the friendliest most charming smiles I have ever seen on a boy. He was talking to Cindy - lucky, lucky her! ..........
